The Power of Language: A Bilingual Student’s Success Story

Le Phuong Khanh Nhu, a talented young woman with a commanding presence and fluency in both Vietnamese and English, has earned numerous accolades for her exceptional abilities. Among her achievements are top honors in prestigious student competitions, showcasing her well-rounded excellence.

Currently a third-year tourism student at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Nhu attributes her success to self-discipline, perseverance, and a strategic approach to language learning, specifically the Linearthinking method developed by DOL IELTS Dinh Luc.

Linearthinking is a critical and logical approach to language teaching and learning. It is centered around logical and mathematical thinking and considers the influence of the mother tongue on English studies. The method includes techniques such as simplifying, reading and understanding structures, building sentences, and thinking and expressing thoughts in English.

A Voice of Inspiration

Nhu’s journey into the spotlight began when she, as an ambitious freshman, entered a bilingual emceeing competition at UEH. What started as a challenge quickly turned into a triumph as she navigated stage fright and competition pressure to emerge as the champion. This unexpected victory marked a turning point in her life, pushing her to pursue bilingual emceeing as a career.

Since then, she has gone on to win another bilingual talent competition, solidifying her reputation as a skilled orator. Her secret to success lies in her dedication to self-practice and her love for languages. Nhu would often read English texts aloud, record herself, and then critically review her performance. This, coupled with her practice of Vietnamese self-monologues, helped her develop quick thinking and editing skills.

Proficiency Through Practice

Nhu’s proficiency in bilingual hosting stems from her deep passion for languages and her commitment to focused practice. Her curiosity and dedication led her to study the techniques of international pageant winners, drawing inspiration from their graceful and convincing delivery of ideas. In addition to self-study, Nhu discovered the Linearthinking method, which structured her thoughts clearly and logically, enabling her to achieve an impressive IELTS score of 7.0, with aspirations to reach 8.0 soon.

Balancing Excellence and Ambition

Juggling her studies, hosting events, and competition schedules, Nhu maintains a disciplined routine. She dedicates her mornings to hosting events and afternoons to academic pursuits and self-improvement. With clear priorities, she advances her English skills daily and works towards improving her IELTS score on weekends.

Nhu’s ambition knows no bounds. In the next five years, she envisions herself as a renowned bilingual host, translator, and mentor for aspiring emcees. She also prioritizes community service, seeing it as an opportunity to give back while expanding her horizons and refining her skills.

Inspiration, Resilience, and a Modern Vision

Nhu draws inspiration from Vietnamese social media personality Khanh Vy, who embodies a balanced approach to success and life. She believes that role models are essential in fueling ambition. However, her journey has not been without challenges. She recalls a setback in an emceeing competition, where she fell short of her expectations, finishing only in the top 20. Rather than dwelling on disappointment, Nhu embraced the lesson in humility and the importance of meticulous preparation and time management.

Nhu’s vision for modern women is one of empowerment, self-development, and community contribution. She believes that a modern woman pursues her dreams while enhancing her value and balancing relationships. By overcoming limitations, she becomes a source of inspiration and contributes to a progressive and compassionate society.

As Nhu continues to refine her skills, she emphasizes the irreplaceability of the human touch, especially in the AI era. For emcees, speaking goes beyond scripts; it’s about connecting with the audience on an emotional level, something technology cannot replicate.

With her impressive achievements, unwavering determination, and structured approach to learning, Nhu serves as a role model for Vietnam’s youth, demonstrating that passion and persistence are the keys to turning dreams into reality.
