The ceremony then segued into a competition between the defending 2023 DIFF champion, France, and the host, Vietnam. The theme for this face-off was ‘Made of Unique Culture,’ and it certainly lived up to its name.

Vietnam’s team, representing the city of Da Nang, put on a mesmerizing performance that depicted the robust growth and hospitality of the coastal city. With a decade of experience in fireworks displays, they wowed the audience with their precision and creativity.

This year’s DIFF will feature seven international pyrotechnic teams from France, Italy, the US, Germany, Poland, China, and Finland, as well as a team from Da Nang. Each Saturday night, for five weeks, these teams will present 20-minute displays of pyrotechnic artistry, each following a unique theme.

With its first edition held in 2008, DIFF has become a much-anticipated event, contributing significantly to the city’s tourism recovery post-pandemic. In the first half of 2023, lodging facilities in Da Nang served over 3.5 million visitors, a year-on-year growth rate of 116.6 percent. International visitors increased 11.3-fold compared to 2022, while domestic guests also soared by nearly 68 percent.

The festival continues to be a shining example of cultural exchange and a boost to the local economy, with this year’s edition promising to be another memorable showcase of talent and creativity from around the world.
