Da Nang International Fireworks Festival Lights Up the Sky and Wows Crowds
The anticipation was palpable as spectators filled the 10,000-seat area surrounding the DIFF stage many hours before the opening ceremony. The festival, now in its 12th edition, promises to be a spectacular display of pyrotechnics and performance art.
And the crowd was not disappointed. Following a series of stunning art performances, the opening night took an exciting turn with thrilling jetski and flyboard displays on the Han River.

The ceremony then segued into a competition between the defending 2023 DIFF champion, France, and the host, Vietnam. The theme for this face-off was ‘Made of Unique Culture,’ and it certainly lived up to its name.
Vietnam’s team, representing the city of Da Nang, put on a mesmerizing performance that depicted the robust growth and hospitality of the coastal city. With a decade of experience in fireworks displays, they wowed the audience with their precision and creativity.

Not to be outdone, the French team ArtEventia chose the dragon, a symbol of strength and power in both French and Vietnamese cultures, as the main motif of their performance. Their breathtaking display conveyed a message of human connection and cultural unity.

This year’s DIFF will feature seven international pyrotechnic teams from France, Italy, the US, Germany, Poland, China, and Finland, as well as a team from Da Nang. Each Saturday night, for five weeks, these teams will present 20-minute displays of pyrotechnic artistry, each following a unique theme.
With its first edition held in 2008, DIFF has become a much-anticipated event, contributing significantly to the city’s tourism recovery post-pandemic. In the first half of 2023, lodging facilities in Da Nang served over 3.5 million visitors, a year-on-year growth rate of 116.6 percent. International visitors increased 11.3-fold compared to 2022, while domestic guests also soared by nearly 68 percent.
The festival continues to be a shining example of cultural exchange and a boost to the local economy, with this year’s edition promising to be another memorable showcase of talent and creativity from around the world.
