The “Ensemble” (Together) Francophone running tournament took place on March 24 at Thong Nhat (Reunification) Park in Hanoi, with over 1,800 runners participating, as reported by VOV.

The participants included students, lecturers, businesses, representatives of diplomatic agencies, Francophone organizations, and foreigners based in Hanoi.

This year, the main theme of the event was the UN SDG 3 “For a healthy and happy life for communities of all ages”.

The race consisted of three main distances: 2.5 km, 5 km, and 10 km.

Athletes participate in the first Francophone Running Course 2024.

A total of 37 prizes were awarded to both male and female winners in each distance. Additionally, prizes were given to the oldest and youngest athletes.

A wide range of activities were held, including nearly 40 booths set up by organizations and businesses in the French-speaking community of Hanoi. Moreover, students from across the capital brought 28 art performances to the event.

The Francophone Course 2024 is also one of the running events with the most prizes, awarding a total of 37 prizes to male and female champions in each distance and event, as well as to the oldest and youngest athletes in each distance, the earliest registration group, and the largest registration group.

The event was first held in 2022 and was jointly organized by the Embassy of France in Vietnam, the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), and the Francophone University Agency (AUF).

During the opening ceremony, French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet emphasized the significance of the event in commemorating the 54th anniversary of International Francophonie Day. Beyond sport, athlete engagement celebrates the values of charity, commitment, and joy, which are also the core values of the Francophone movement.
