Quang Tri Receives Two Kindergarten Classrooms From PeaceTrees Vietnam

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Two Kindergarten Classrooms in Quang Tri Province

The People’s Committee of Huong Hoa district, in coordination with PeaceTrees Vietnam, organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of two classrooms and auxiliary facilities. The project will be adjacent to the existing Thanh Commune Central Kindergarten in A Ho village, Thanh commune of Quang Tri province.

The project includes the construction of two classrooms, two storage rooms, two closed bathrooms, a corridor, a reception hall, an embankment, and a fence. It also includes the installation of electricity and water system. The total cost of the project is VND 1.5 billion (USD 61,700), with VND 1 billion (USD 41,100) in non-refundable aid capital and VND 500 million (USD 20,500) in counterpart capital from the district’s People’s Committee.

The project is expected to be completed and put into use after seven months of construction.

PeaceTrees Vietnam Builds 2 Kindergarten Classrooms in Quang Tri Province

Country Director of PeaceTrees Vietnam, Phan Thi Hong Ha, stated that in addition to livelihood support and mine prevention education, PeaceTrees Vietnam has been supporting the construction of classrooms in schools. To date, Huong Hoa district has supported the construction of more than 17 schools at a total cost of over 8 billion VND (USD 329,100).

Vice Principal of Thanh Duong Commune Kindergarten, Thi Nhu Uyen, shared that the commune has 331 preschool students from the Van Kieu ethnic group studying at 6 schools. This initiative will contribute to improving the quality of education in the area.

In recognition of its contributions to foreign affairs and international cooperation over the years, PeaceTrees Vietnam recently received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Chairman of the Quang Tri People’s Committee.

Established in 1995, PeaceTrees Vietnam is the first US non-governmental organization permitted to operate in Vietnam to address the legacy of war. Their efforts include demining, mine risk education, victim assistance, and community building projects in partnership with the people of Quang Tri.
