Vietnam scoops 16 int’l awards at World Travel Awards 2022

Vietnam was awarded World’s Leading Heritage Destination 2022 for the third time since 2019 while its capital of Hanoi was honored as World’s Leading City Break Destination 2022.

Three of the country’s popular tourist destinations, including Phu Quoc Island off the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, Moc Chau District in the northern mountainous province of Son La, and Tam Dao Town in the northern province of Vinh Phuc, were recognized as World’s Leading Nature Island Destination 2022, World’s Leading Regional Nature Destination 2022, and World’s Leading Town Destination 2022, respectively.

Sun World Ba Na Hills received the titles of World’s Leading Cable Car Ride 2022, World’s Leading Iconic Tourist Attraction 2022, and World’s Leading Iconic Tourist Bridge 2022.

Sun World Fansipan Legend was named World’s Leading Cultural Tourist Destination 2022 and World’s Leading Natural Landscape Tourist Attraction 2022.

Hoi An Memories Land and Intercontinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort claimed the World’s Leading Entertainment Destination 2022 and World’s Leading Green Resort 2022 awards.

The World’s Leading Cultural Airline 2022 and World’s Leading Group Tour Operator 2022 prizes went to national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and Vietravel Corporation.

JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa and Hotel de la Coupole – Mgallery were accredited as World’s Leading Luxury Wedding Resort 2022 and World’s Leading Design Hotel 2022, respectively.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in travel, tourism, and hospitality. 

Heralded as the “travel industry’s equivalent of the Oscars” by the Wall Street Journal, the awards are based on votes from the public and travel professionals across the globe.

Taste of Hanoi: A Festival Celebrating the City’s Culinary Delights

The Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival of 2024, themed “Hanoi Noshes,” kicked off on the evening of August 23 in the pedestrian zone along Tran Nhan Tong Street, Hai Ba Trung District. This festival commemorates the 70th anniversary of Hanoi Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 – 2024) and is part of the 2024 National Tourism Year – Dien Bien celebrations. At the opening ceremony, Tran Trung Hieu, Vice Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, delivered a speech emphasizing the festival’s role in promoting Hanoi as a ‘Safe – Friendly – High-Quality – Attractive’ tourist destination. He highlighted the unique gifts, delicious local specialties, and cultural heritage preservation efforts showcased by the event. The festival featured around 100 participating units, offering a diverse range of experiences. Vietnam looking for talented foreign coach for men’s football team following Park’s departure

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially announced on Monday that it will end the contract with Park on January 31, 2023, closing his fruitful five-year journey with Vietnamese football that had started in late 2017. The decision means that the 2022 AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup, set to take place between December and January, will be Park’s last tournament as the head coach of the men’s national football team. The VFF affirmed that the farewell to the South Korean coach, who brought significant success to Vietnamese football during his tenure, came from a mutual understanding and the desire for a prosperous future for both parties.
